Finally got my car back on the road and running right. It was down due to the transmission, and Frank at CPT rebuilt my transmission. The "race" rebuild it the way to go. I have to say, Frank is da' man! :metal: Its shifts so nice and crisp, and I can't believe how quickly it makes the shift. Awesome, awesome, awesome! With the build quality, and his awesome customer service, I'd recommend him to anybody out there needing a rebuild, or even somebody to talk cars with ;)

Thanks Frank! It was a great experience. If your ever in the west TN area, please look me up!

Thanks again, guys. Unfortunately, I'm going to stop posting in the drivetrain section because "the powers that be" are pissing a bitch because I'm not a "supporting advertiser". Oh well, it's CZ's loss.... No more free tech advice from me.

Later,
Frank

How did you get your trans over to Frank?? I'm in the middle TN area, and really all I'm waiting on to get my car going again is a fresh transmission. I'd rather get my trans to someone I know is well recommended rather than take it to billy bob down the street- I've had it with people who do work on cars and talk themselves up big time but when it comes to work quality and customer service just don't deliver. Oh and Frank I'll be in touch with you soon.......

Send it via DHL. UPS and FedEX can't seem to get it right.

Why don't you just become a supporting vendor?

Many people contribute information on here, and don't advertise. So I don't see why this should be any different.

No problem...I'll shoot you an address to send your contribution toward the $1200 that it costs to be a "supporting advertiser". How much would you like to donate?...LOL :D

Thanks,
Frank

Yeah they told Frank that it would cost him $1200/per year for venders..

I am a Supporting Member here and that price is going up to if you havent look recently...

To all you guys telling him to support the board:
This is a great board, with great resources, but they make it hard for guys like Frank who is trying to keep his prices low for all of us. We all know that if Frank became a Supporting Vender and had to pay more then the cost of one of his rebuilds a year then his prices would need to go up. Please don't force him to pay those prices because we would have to pay it in the end...

Also, take a look back through his posts and you will find he supports the board greatly by giving out good/free advice about problems and sometimes but rarely even tells people to send their stuff to him, unlike supporting venders that don't even give help and just day contact me. How does that help others that may have the same or a similar problem???

I was not implying he should or should not become a supporting vendor........I was being a smartass. I didn't mean to offend anyone if it was taken that way.

No man that wasn't meant for you to think I was singleing you out, you just were the closest post that had that price in it. I just wanted to prove that they wanted more then the cost of one of his rebuilds, and most of the cost of his rebuilds are parts so he would be doing the equivilent of 6-8 free rebuilds to cover it and that is money out of his pocket because he is not doing this for profits, because if he was he could charge more and I am sure paople would pay it, but Frank does this to help racers like us, guys on a budget. This is something he has said to me many times, and that is why I go to his back defending him so quickly...

Wow after re-reading what I am writing above, I think I am making him out to be a saint or something...

Oh well, all I am saying is the guy helps us out the least we can do is help him out...

I think that by answering questions, & solving problems, that I can offer much more to everybody here than spending "X" amount on advertising. I agree with Frank & others on this.

Dana,

This is why I have you on my list of referals when people are looking for good info from this section.

BTW, the rate this board is going they may ask you to change your name since it is advertising your company and you are not a paying vender...:p
Just kidding - I hope...

This thread was reported to me as "advertising". I read through it and have to say that I don't see it as advertising. The thing which is borderline is the posting and re-posting of links to a vendors web site. However, I will ask other mods to look and see what they think.

In general though, here is my understanding wrt advertising. The board costs money and time to run and maintain. Jason and Chris defray the cost by allowing people to advertise and charging them for it. I assume they make some profit, which is absolutely fine with me. This is a great place to come and share F-body knowledge and experience and I have no problem "paying" for the privilege by having some banners appear at the top of the page. If I am not interested, I ignore them. To be fair to those who support the site by paying to advertise, there is a policy that prevents people who don't pay from advertising. Giving advice is not advertising, even when it's clear from the context that the poster is in the business. However, there is a line which is sometimes crossed where advertising is presented in the guise of advice. It's hard to define, but like Justice Earl Warren said about porn, I (think) I know it when I see it.

Bottom line: I hope that you guys who know this stuff continue to post advice but ask you to refrain from advertising unless you want to pay for the privilege.

Rich

Guys, we don't appreciate the remarks.

Giving tech advice here is what the site is all about. If you are here to give advice and share information and knowledge, that's great and well appreciated but it is not fair to us or ther other paying advertisers to lace it with promotion and trying to drum up business.

Giving "free advice" doesn't mean "free advertising" in return. There are thousands who do it here every day and don't expect anything it return. The advice given might be great, but we can't pay our bills using "free advice". It just doesn't work that way. With no advertising funds, there is no site. With no site, there are no site members to help for free and also no members for vendors to make money from. We need to cover our asses as well. It has always been this way in the 10 years that we have been running this site. This is nothing new.

I can't afford to pay the rate for a rebuilt transmission, so that doesn't mean I should get it for free. Our advertising rates are very fair compared to other advertising. We only ask for what we need to get by.

Frank: I know where you are coming from, and I hope you also see where I am. Give me an e-mail, maybe we can help each other out.

1SlowFormula/others: Sorry, but that is the way it is. Again, we really don't appreciate the remarks and you may want to try putting yourselves in our shoes.
