If you have a lot of miles, it might be wise to replace or rebuild the posi carrier. You should have an Auburn. The company has an exchange program where they rebuild it for about $100. Notacamaro 10-25-2005, 12:14 PM Ok, great. I have some 3.42 gears out of my s-10. Do you think it will make a big enoguh difference to bother putting them in there? anaik 10-25-2005, 01:31 PM Ok, great. I have some 3.42 gears out of my s-10. Do you think it will make a big enoguh difference to bother putting them in there? If the gears out of the S-10 are GM they are 3 series and won't work without a spacer, not a good idea, I've heard. 3.42's will make a difference, a 25% increase in torque. Notacamaro 10-25-2005, 06:30 PM So I guess I'll go with some 3.73's for the #2 carrier. Thanks for the help man. LWillmann 10-26-2005, 08:35 AM Ok, great. I have some 3.42 gears out of my s-10. I've only seen two S10 rear ends, and they were both 8.5" ring gears, so you might want to be sure you're dealing with the right size gears. anaik 10-26-2005, 09:08 AM I've only seen two S10 rear ends, and they were both 8.5" ring gears, so you might want to be sure you're dealing with the right size gears. Where these out of the ZR2. I have a '98 S-10, and the factory brochure says the ZR2 has a widened frame and a 8.5" ring gear in the rear axle. leading me to believe the other models have the 7.5". LWillmann 10-26-2005, 11:55 AM One of them was a fleet (straight) side, 2.2L 4-cylinder with 5 speed manual trans. I don't know if it was a ZR2. The other I'm not sure, it was already out of the truck. chestnuthillfrog 03-21-2006, 09:38 PM how do u get the code info to tell what rearend in a car? anaik 03-22-2006, 07:06 AM how do u get the code info to tell what rearend in a car? '95 and earlier, the codes are on the inside of the glove box lid. They are, GU2=2.73 GU5=3.23 GU6=3.42 '96 and up are on the inside of the drivers side door. Not positive about the years and their location of the RPO list, but it's in one of those places. | ||
