Question on exhaust/headers combo
Question on exhaust/headers combo
I was contemplating what exhaust/header set-up to go with on my 3rd. gen the other day and I came up with a few ideas. Right now I have shorty headers into a full 3" single exhasut into a flowmaster 80 series muffler.
Anyways, here are a few idea I came up with. They all include Hooker cearmic coated headers, so I'll just show you guys everything from there back:
Option 1: The 3rd one down.
Option 2: Some 2.5" piping off of the headers and then into the h-pipe. And then go back to some Dynomax bullets with turndowns before the rear axle.
Option 3: Same as above but with Moroso mufflers.
Option 4: X-pipe and then dump it with Dynomax bullets from option 2.
Option 5: Same as above but with Moroso mufflers from option 3.
Option 6: Get the BMR panhard rod re-location brace and then run a 2 1/2" dual out to the back of the car with an H-pipe and Warlock racing mufflers. I like the idea of these because I can go from no exhaust to full exhaust. Basically like cut-outs.
Option 7: Same as above but with an X-pipe.
Allright, so let me know what you guys think. I'm looking for what will offer the most performance and sound good, not raspy or anyhting like that. Oh and I kinda just threw in #1 just to see what you guys would say, but I honestly wouldn't mind getting them if they're not like open header loud.

Re: Question on exhaust/headers combo
With any dual exhaust, it seems that there will likely be raspiness unless you get a good sized muffler. Also, you'll be losing a bit of ground clearance with that setup too. The exhaust can be made to tuck under and not lose clearance but there will likely be a lot more bends= less hp. We had a discussion going on over at www.gcfba.net about this in the past week.
Really, as always, I'm just gonna reccommend a good header and GMMG. It's pricey but in the end it will get you the sound and performance you want.

Re: Question on exhaust/headers combo
I was thinking it would be easy if I ran some Hooker headers just into a 4" sinlge out the back and have it exit on the drivers side. Pretty much unrestricted flow and it should flow fairly good. I saw it on another site somewhere. On a 4th gen though.
