Dynoed the car today!
Well some of the other guys from the board and myself went to the dyno day in Fremont. We had a blast watching the cars do the runs. Unfortuneately I didn't get to see any stupid fast cars dyno. A TT Supra showed but he didn't run his car
Enough with the suspence
Max Power = 241.4hp @ about 4500rpm
Max Torque = 332.2 ft lb @ about 3300
I think my torque might be higher since he started the pull at 3200. It looks like there's more at lower rpms but who knows
After the 2nd pull the collectors on my headers were glowing red so my EGT's were high. They said my timing is too far off. My air/fuel ratio was at 12.5-13.5 and they said thats right on for a carbureted car.
I kinda hoped my hp would be higher but I'm pretty happy with my torque. I'll call this a good baseline
. It really was a lot of fun, I'd recommend going to one if you get a chance. Maybe only to watch
PICS!!

Very cool! Did the guys there offer much help on tuning/etc? Sounds like they did. I want to dyno mine in the spring, and I don't really know what to change when I try to get better hp out of it, I just hope someone there can give me pointers.....

AJ, I know what you mean, there isn't much I can change on mine without dropping a lot of cash on new heads and a cam. I've thought about trying the happy gas once I get this timing thing sorted out. Yeah they did give me some tips after the first pull on my fuel ratio. They didn't really say anything about timing until we saw the headers. We didn't do a 3rd pull since it wouldn't have really showed anything new
Man, if you're laying down 241 with the timing retarded far enough to send the collectors into "incandescent" mode just wait till you get the timing dialed in! It'll take a team of plastic surgeons a week to wipe the smile off your face! Seriously, I have spent a coupla decades dragging HP out of street motors and I can tell you that the difference between having ignition timing "close" and "dialed in" is a BIG difference- the kind of improvement you don't need a dyno to tell it's stronger. Learn everything you can about ignition timing and have at it. Might I suggest as a starting point an article over on thirdgen.org about tuning your HEI distributor for performance. Even if you don't use an HEI distributor, the info it contains on dialing a proper "curve" for best power applies to any distributor.
