Tires
Tires
I just got some stock 1993 Z28 wheels, 245,50,R16. My mods are in sig, i cant hook at all. First gear is totally a joke, second is bad, and i can church these things in third going 65! And i have an A4, hell they churp when the tranny slows down and goes into a lower gear at part throttle. I want something that i can hook with, im tired of lame traction. I want to take my stall to 2200 where it maxes, and let loose on the throttle and grab. What tires do you reccomend for this? I found a few and was wondering what i should get? I found a few and was wondering if they would hook, and if they would even fit? BFG-66711, BFG-51487,MTT-3793R . My main question is which one would you get for great hooking, and will any of these even fit my wheels? Its so hard to hook with the ones i got, i put the psi to like 10, did a burn out, and still cant hook. Ive got about 310 hp in my camaro or so. Anyways, thank you!
Re: Tires
You might want to post the tires you are looking at by "size" and line (e.g. BFG KDW 245/50-16). People will know those better than the manufacturers' part numbers, which you appear to be listing. The only way they can figure out the answer to your question is to go to the BFG website and try and match up the part number to a line of tires and the size.

Re: Tires
265-50-R16 is a BFG tire i was looking at for these wheels. 295-50-R16. Also Bfgs TA Radials. Then there was the mickey tompson et streets 255-50-r16s. Just wondering what would help me hook better. Thanks, sorry bout the lame postings.
Re: Tires
The 265/50-16 is a BFG Radial T/A. That's an "all season" tire, and probably not going to be much of a performer, since its designed to work in snow as weel as wet and dry. Its a little taller thatn stock (26.5") which throws off the speedo, and has the same affect as going to a lower numerical rear. That tire will work on a stock 16x8 wheel.
I can't find the 295 listed anywhere except on the BFG website... that's another Radial T/A. It is a huge tire, at 27.6" or 2" larger in diameter than stock. Not going to look very good, and will make a set of 3.73's (as an example) act like you had 3.42's. It will fit on an 8" wheel, but would probably look better on a 9" or 10" wheel.
If you want to stick with the 16x8 wheels, you would probably get the best raction with the BFG, M/T or Nitto Drag Radials.

Re: Tires
I have Goodyear F1 Supercar tires on my car, and they hooked great at the track this past weekend. There was only one time my car got a little loose going around a corner. I'll probably buy another set of these tires. I'm very happy with them.
Re: Tires
mt et streets all the way. personal reference. the et streets when warmed up and lowered pressure hook like slicks. run till you see smoke then pull to the line and go. my brother-in-laws 500 rwhp GN cuts a 1.6 at 15 ish pounds. they are much better, not kinda better, not a little better, much better than any of the bfg's i have ever run on or against. i have no experience with the nittos.
