On a 2002 WS-6, if you jack the rear end up so that both wheels are off of the ground and spin one of the wheels by hand what should the other wheel do?

Injuneer 04-20-2005, 02:53 PM Please post questions on this topic in the "Drivetrain" forum, not here on "General Tech". sir dyno 04-21-2005, 01:36 AM Im assuming you have posi-traction then the other wheel should spin too. 93LT1355 04-21-2005, 09:33 AM Im assuming you have posi-traction then the other wheel should spin too. Even if he didn't have posi the other wheel would still spin its just which direction. IF you have posi and other wheel should spin in the same direction you are turning your wheel. If you didn't have posi the other wheel would turn in the oposite direction. RamAirTA95 04-21-2005, 09:44 AM What does it mean if the other wheel does not move at all, but if I start the car and put it in gear they both turn? cndctrdj 04-21-2005, 10:16 AM how many miles on the car? and is it the original stuff in there? Capn Pete 04-21-2005, 11:30 AM What does it mean if the other wheel does not move at all, but if I start the car and put it in gear they both turn? It means the car is in neutral, and you're turning the driveshaft instead of the other axle;). Put the car in gear and try again. NOW, there's a chance that the wheel on the other side could spin the opposite direction even if you have an LSD (limited slip differential) but it only happens with the Zexel Torsen diffs I believe:think:. I know that's what my factory 2.73 diff is, and I'm pretty sure the axles will turn in opposite directions if you just spin one side. The Auburn diff is more like a traditional "posi", and they will always turn in the same direction:cool:. Your '02 T/A definitely came with an LSD, it's just a question of which type, Torsen or Auburn. RamAirTA95 04-21-2005, 11:52 AM Thanks Captn that is what I thought, just couldn't remember. cndctrdj 04-21-2005, 11:53 AM if he had electronic lockers or air lockers then they wouldnt engage until then had the appropriate medium to them | ||
