hey, a few questions...
who here used a gasket like the guy on projecttransam.com? where and what part# is the gasket material you got?
and also, who just used rtv? do you notice any more vibration?
edit- how the heck did you get the **** off?
i am by no means a weak guy but this thing is stuck on there!
it is an aftermarket pistol grip (put in by the previous owner) but it is really really stuck
any ideas?

Re: pro 5.0 installation
I'm using a gasket. Auto parts stores sell paper gasket material in a sheet and you just cut it to fit. The real advantage is that if you pull your tranny often, you don't have to scrap off the old RTV. The gasket also might help to reduce vibration noises.
Re: pro 5.0 installation
o ok, i might stop by advance tomorrow and get a gasket then
and yea, i'm trying to reduce on vibrations in my car
got to keep it somewhat quiet for the ladies
and how hard did you have to twist to get off the ****?
i pulled as hard as i could and it would only move maybe an inch to the left
i'm not too worried about breaking it but it seems like it's twisting the stick as well

How hard does it vibrate for you guys that used the RTV? I know there's only seven inches of metal between your hand and crap thats spinning at 6000 rpm, but it shakes a little hard! One of my friends said her arm almost went numb from it, hahah!
Re: pro 5.0 installation
sure your screwing the right way?
If I remember there's a bit of glue in it.. once you overcome that, it comes off pretty easily... some people have had harder times than others.
I used RTV.. vibrates a little more than stock(especially since there are no rubber bushings anywhere), but not anything crazy.. Might want to check your trans mount.

Re: pro 5.0 installation
well it is an aftermarket shift **** so i'm thinking the previous owner just put gobs of rtv on it
i'm actually just gonna get the 2 bolts off of the shifter and pull the whole stick out
i won't be re-using the ****, i'm using stock now
thanks for the help guys

Re: pro 5.0 installation
i used RTV.. vibration isnt too bad.. could be better, but its by no means a distraction or anything. i am however having some trouble with heat and im asking around on the boards to get help with that.

On that install guide he says to remove the stop bolts, that's the first time I've seen that. I thought they were pretty important? Does anyone else recommend taking them off?
