SPEC stage 4 or SLP clutch?

I am looking at getting a clutch and flywheel for my 96 Z28. I am intrested in either the spec stage 4 and spec flywheel or the slp clutch and light flywheel. The price is pretty much the same for either. The spec has a higher TQ rating, but SLP make very good products. The plan for the motor is 350 rwhp and a 100 shot of no2. The car is a driver. I don't drive it every day, but I do put some miles on it. I need some opinions from guys who have ran these clutches and flywheels. I would have posted in the drivetrain section, but I want to hear from the lt1 people. thanks

I dont think you would need a stage 4 for that setup. I use stage 3 and it holds great. It was hell to break in though.

You'll want more than the SLP. I put one in my Z this time last year when I did the A4->M6 swap and its already starting to slip some and I dont even go to the track or run N20. But I am running ~340 - 350 rwhp and that is over SLP's rated limit. I'll probably go the Street Twin route when I have to replace mine.

Drew, how long did it take to break it in? How bad was the chatter during breakin and after?

Its going to continue to chatter because of the fact its a kevlar disc, thats just how that material is. Go for stage 4 if your gettin a spec. Ive heard a lot of people say that the design of the stage 3 sucks. I cant remember the exact detailing of everyones experiences with the stage 3 but i cant remember anyone liking them. Do a search on them and you should be able to dig up old posts and get a better idea. But when i replace mine I am either getting a stage 4 or 5. Forget the driveability problems of the stage 4 and 5, once you get used to it it will seem normal, but thats just the way i see it.

Re: SPEC stage 4 or SLP clutch?

I just grenaded an SLP clutch. Also ruined my lightweight flywheel. Clutch had about 10k miles on it and my car only has 330 rwhp. I'm in the process of installing a spec 3 right now.
