I did a ttop conversion and ifigured id be gaining some weight since glass is heavy.
I picked up ALL the metal pieces off the ground and realized that the amount of metal i cut off has to be a lot of weight savings. Does anyone know the difference in shipping weights? Of course theres stuff like trunk holders/ more weatherstripping/ etc.

T-tops are 27lbs heavier...

Why don't you just weigh what you removed including the composite roof panel and side beams, and compare it to the weight of the t-tops?

At the bottom of this page, the factory shipping weight table shows the t-tops add 12.3# over the hardtop model.

Just weighed some stuff I had laying aroun myself...

Hardtop stuff...
-headliner, ~3 lbs(doubt its worth mentioning weight difference, between it and t-top headliner
-Composite roof, with factory thick silicone on bottom side, 11 lbs.
-weatherstripping, 6 lbs.
-Metal supports removed, ??? Guestimate, ~15 lbs.???
-weatherstripping tracks, + metal trim, ~2 lbs.

T-top Stuff...
-headliner, ???? DOubt it matters.
-T-tops, ???
-Weatherstripping, 8 lbs.
- Center t-bar, ~ 1lbs
-t-top receivers+bolts, 2 lbs

-I figure extra screws/bolts removed, balance out bolts and screws added for a t-top conversion.
-interior trim pieces not even really worth mentioning.

Honestly, looking at it, I don't think the weight difference is even really worth bothering about, and as for the structural integrity, I don't even think there is really a difference between a hardtop and t-top car.

-the metal supports are flimsy and spotwelded on.
-Composite roof might as well be posterboard.

Im gonna agree with you. I think the weights are very close. I was under the assumption before i did the conversion that ttops were way heavier but after doing it, it seems close. I also agree on the structural integrity... I was surprised that all they did was about 6 tiny spot welds in 4 places to hold that flimsy metal on. I was planning on getting sub frames anyways though.
