LOL Celica GT vs..

So this ricer kid @ my school was wanting to race people today, I was sh*t outta luck b/c I had work.. but I had time to just pass by and watch him race a 1997 Jeep Cheroke 4 door stock.

Celica:
Ricer exhaust along with everything that comes along with it.
Huge wing (he thinks it gives him 30hp)

Jeep:
stock

So they line up and some random guy that i dont know flags them off.. First the celica jumps ahead, then ill be damned if the Jeep didnt creep up and pass him when they got to like 50-60 ROFL. was so funny.
The Celica turned his red underglow on @ 4:30 and just left after that, im sure everyone will be talking about that tomorrow.. haha

I've driven a couple celica GT's and they are slow as all hell...I can't believe it got jump on the jeep actually, although I"m not the least bit surprised that the jeep realed him in.

What mods are you going to have once the rebuild is complete? Cam, intake, exhaust, etc? Or are you going to do higher compression and heads as well?

Re: LOL Celica GT vs..

Eh.. a few things
Basic bolt-ons, (EVERYTHING intake and exhaust related..Cam, intake, exhaust, etc) and maybe reworked heads or new heads somwhere down the line.

You should put out about 250 rwhp with all mods and stock heads. Probably 290 rwhp with a decent set of unported alum. heads and all other bolt ons. And 300-350 rwhp with a set of seriously ported good heads and a big cam.

Go with one of the major manufacturers of alum. heads and ask them what cam to run depending on your needs. You could go with Edelbrock Performer RPM stuff. That should give you about 365 flywheel hp with everything they recommend. Those are non ported heads! Go to www.edelbrock.com and check them out. You could have the heads ported by someone that knows what he is doing and ask him what the next cam up is. I would think a big cam for a 305 would be about .540" lift and 240 degrees or more duration at .050" lift. If you run too big of cam, you will lose low end and not pass smog, though. It's best to talk to the people who make the heads and cam. They know what will pass smog and what to sell you depending on your needs.

I would go with www.airflowresearch.com if you can. I don't know if they make 305 stuff, though. I would call them and ask. Their heads rock! They made 450 flywheel hp with a 302 Ford n/a! They made 530 n/a hp with a stock short block LS1!

Those power #s are with stock unported heads, cam, intake, exhaust, etc. No blower, turbo or nitrous. You get what you pay for.
