My car weighs 4200 Lbs !?!?!?!?!

Ok, so one of my friends dad told us that the weight of the car is printed inside the door jam on the door.

So we check his mazda 3, and it said it weighed about 3600ish, which seems right for a 5 door hatch


So we go over to my slowmaro and check. and it reads out 4200 and some change.!!!!!!!

IM LIKE WHOA WTF!


he is like damn thats a heavy car



I knew camaros were heavy, but 4200!?!?!?!!


alot of you guys on here are saying your car weighs about 3400-3700, with small weight reduction or bone stock



so whats the deal with that number? Is it correct or is it weighted with certain factors in it

That's the "gross" weight of the car with 4 occupants and the trunk loaded to the legal limit. Your car does not weigh 4,200# empty.

the gvwr is usually the max weight a car can carry on the frame itself, my dad's truck says almost 8000lbs and he can tow another 5000lbs and still be okay FRAME/BODY wise. lol, with my dad's 97 sierra 1500 ext fully loaded in the bed and cab (not to 8000lbs though) and my 3200lb car on a 2000lb trailer we could barely make it up a .001927% grade hill and anything higher than that the car would stop moving. when we got into wyoming and tried to drive straight down through casper to laramie the truck totally stopped on this one gradual and semi-steep hill. but we went around and it made it 2500 miles towing my car and only lost a fuel pump in fargo. i'd like to see a ford f150 with a 305 vortec equivalent do that!

sorry, off subject. but most 4th gens tend to weight in around 3600lbs and 3rd gens are closer to 3200lbs and 2nd gens and 3rd gens are a little more than that.

As has been stated, thats the GVW.

My WS6 weighs 3850 with me in it. WS6's are heavy to begin with, then add my fat ass to it and you get 3850 with a full tank of gas.
