Did you pull the accessories off the engine? If so, I may be wrong but I just use the accessory mounting holes with the bolt going in the head, and through the chain. I have used this method everytime, and have never had a problem, even w/ aluminum heads. I hope that helps.

yea all the accessories are completely off....so you think that will be alright or should i use a hole on the block itself?

There should be the two hooks on the manifold when you remove the upper plenum and runners. If not, Do the bolt through the head method. It will be fine.

i'd use accessory holes as well. make sure that you put them on the inner most holes, otherwise your valve covers might get a little dent in them. I found that out the hard way one night when i was tired and not looking.

I have used the bolts and chain method everytime I have pulled my motor. You don't need a long chain, just long enough to reach one corner of the motor to the other and have a little slack. Then out she comes.

I dropped my aluminum headed motor into my car using grade 8 bolts threaded into the intake bolts on the heads, didn't have any issues.
