draglite backspacing

What backspacing and tire size are you guys running? I was thinking like maybe a 15x8 and a 26x11.5??? What size backspacing would i need? What is everyone else running for wheel and tire size (draglite, prostar...etc.)

5.5-6.5 depends on how wide of a tire. on a 10 inch rim use the 6.5. if not use the 5.5 on a 8 inch rim

The 5.5" is correct for the 15x8". You need a 7.5" BS on a 15x10, or your tire will be outside the fender.

I also think that most manufacturers recommend a 10" wide wheel with a 26x11.5-15.

thanks alot, i heard you had to do some modifications to fit a 28 inch tire? how tall and wide of a tire can you fit under these cars?

I started with 28x11.5-15 QTP's. The inner fenders had already been hammered for 315 DR's on 17x11's. All I had to do to fit the QTP's was move the axle back about 1/4" to eliminate some rubbing at the front edge of the wheel opening when trap speed went over 120-125MPH.

When I went to the ET Drags, even though they are listed as 28.1" vs 28.0" for the QTP's, I ended up taking about 1-1/2" off the leading edge of the rubber bumper cover. I've had it on dyno rollers at the equivalent of 130MPH, but I'm still not sure if I'll get into problems with tire growth above that. The 15"W" is also a lot wider, so it took yet another round of whacking with the BFH.

is this the same for a 94 Z28?
i want to buy rims and slicks, but i don't know backspacing or if a 10" will fit :confused:

The wheel info listed above is valid for 93-97 F-Bodys. The offset info is valid for 98 and newer, but the differerent brake calipers on the LS1 cars may be a problem - I never had one of them so I don't know.

As far as the tires, a buddy of mine with a 30th SS convertible had similar issues with hitting the edges of the wheel opening when he put the same 28x10.5-15W's on his car. He eventually went to a 29.5x11.5-15 and it took major body work to the fenders and the internal fender liners.
