First off my car is in my sig and the car I ran against was (Im not sure with years of the cobras but Im thinking it was a 96-98). THis was basically my first race since I've learned to drive my car. Does anyone have any stats on these cars.

Just so everyone knows Im not the greatest speller nor do I use all the proper grammar and punctuation and all that stuff.

Ok so here goes Im driving down the highway cruising at about 60 when I look into my rearview and see a black mustang pulling up fast and I see him switch lanes into the right to pass. I figure he's going to try and do a ricer fly by on me, so I downshift into third and slam on the go fast pedal we stay pretty much even with me begining start pulling a little. I have to slow down due to the lights coming up but he keeps going thinking he beat me. The lights turn red and hes stopping all fast and his tires even start breaking loose I thought it was funny. I was originally planning on turning but Im thinking oh man I cant pass up this oppurtunity.

So I pull up next to him and look over to him he looks back and I just give him a nod. He was with a girl not sure if it was his girlfriend or what. Anyways Im sitting waiting at the light I hear him start to rev his engine up getting ready to launch. Im not even ready because normally the light takes forever to turn green but this time we were only waiting about 30 seconds and the light turns green. He gets a pretty good launch not to much tire spin and puts about 4 cars on me. Im thinking oh sh!t I just blew it  . Then I just go and start spinnig my tires not to much (I was able to controll it this time). So now Im playing catch up just shifting the hell out of 1and 2, and the 4 cars he put on me in the beginning are getting shorter and shorter threw every shift, we were going about roughly 65-70 when I started reeling him in hard. I can tell he was shifting his good because every shift I could see his tires break loose a little. I was thinking to myself did he slow down because by about 85 I was passing him hard. Took it up to about 120 and then shut down I put about 4 cars on him :D . So I turn off on the off ramp and he just keeps going in shame, I turn right around and as I'm waiting to get back onto the highway I see a truck the was behind me at the lights pass by and the guys giving me the thumbs up  . LS1's are top end gods

I didnt get to talk to the guy to find out if he had anything done to the car. But it was fun embarrising him.

Always fun to give someone a beat down when they're with their chick.

Nice kill man. Yea yall dont have to convince me how hard LS1s pull over 115, seen it first hand. On a relativly stock Cobra you would definitly have no problem pulling on him that hard over 100 mph and it was never an issue of would you catch him off the line but when.

I think those year model Cobras were actually slower than the GT!!!! FORD had some disgruntled customers because of it. Good kill........

I think those year model Cobras were actually slower than the GT!!!! Maybe the 05's but nothing earlier then that.

96-98- 305 hp 5SPD
99/01- 320hp 5SPD
generally run mid to higher 13's(some have hit lows) @102-105 w/ a good driver.

Good Kill

So what about what's under the Cobra's hood? Although this generation of the Cobra debuted as a 1999 model, Ford didn't produce a 2000 model. The reason for the one-year hiatus was the discovery by '99 Cobra owners that their cars' 4.6-liter V8s weren't kicking out the 320 horses that Ford was claiming. Quarter-mile times and dynamometer readings didn't seem to correspond to 320 horsepower.

SVT recalled the '99 Cobras and retrofitted their engines with a kit that included a new exhaust system, intake manifold and engine computer. These changes brought the power up to the advertised 320-horse figure. Unfortunately, all this was discovered too late for the 2000 model year, hence the one-year layoff. The 2001 Cobra has incorporated these changes.

So....He could have raced one of those

LaterThats well known, most 99 Cobras got the "fix" and then put out the advertised hp...02 LS1 still shouldnt have any problems taking care of one.

Could have also been a 94/95 5.0 Cobra, as those are visually very similar to 96-98s.
