EGR diaphram wont hold vacume, runs rough & rich
EGR diaphram wont hold vacume, runs rough & rich
my94 d1sc, is idling/running rough. I've replaced plugs, wires, delteq. the only thing I can find bad is the diaphram on the egr will not hold vacume. Any chance this is my problem?
Can I run an egr with blower?

yes you can but I would just cap it off. I left the seloniod pluged in and never got an engine code. The best was to check if you have a leak is put a vacumm gauge to the intake. If you dont have 2 large of a cam you should be at about 18-20"

Yes, plates are available, but I don't know where.
The service manual says the egr cools the cylinders by displacing oxygen & fuel with exhaust, thereby lowering the amount of combustion. For cast pistons this might be better left hooked up.
My only question is how does boost affect the vacume signal thus affecting egr operation?

Gas
Recirrculation
cirrculates exhaust gas into the intake to heat it up fast for emissions purposes. TPIS sells a block off plate but i would just make your own.
Re: EGR diaphram wont hold vacume, runs rough & rich
Boost will not allow the egr to open, as it needs a vacuum signal. If you have to pass emissions test, there doesn't seem to be much downside to leaving it hooked up. Unless like mine, it has a blown diaphram.

My understanding is the same as hellostop's post above...cooling of the combustion to manage NO emissions.

Why remove and block the passsages? With the vacuum line feeding the solenoid disconnected, the egr valve cant operate/open?
