Question BMR LCAs -- Extra Holes?

I just got a set of BMR lower control arms, and they have 2 extra holes in the bar? I helped a friend install a set on his car and those did not have these extra holes.

Basically, in the bar itself, it looks like BMR drilled two holes, slid what looks like the inner race of a bushing inside, and welded them in.

Does anyone know what this is all about? At first I wondered if this would compromise the structural integrity of the LCAs, but then figured it probably strengthens them due to the fact there are rods slide in the holes and welded up.

Any ideas?

Thomas.

I don't know if they do, but if the f-body LCAs are the same length as the B-body LCAs. I would say you got a set of b-body LCAs. If they are horizontal in the arm arm and spaced about 8-10 inches apart, they are the mounting points for the B-body rear sway bar.

The holes in the arm are as you describe, so you are probably correct that these are B-body LCAs.

So the next obvious question is, will it matter that I have these bolted up in my Z, or should I have BMR swap them out for F-body arms?

Re: BMR LCAs -- Extra Holes?

I'll assume you are talking about "box-section" LCA's. They are the mounting points for the sway bar on other models, as mentioned in the posts above. There is no degredation as a result of these holes. The part is not weakened in any way. I ran a simialr set of box-section LCA's from Just Suspension for several years and never had a problem. I eventually replaced them with tubular LCA's because of the excessive weight.

Re: BMR LCAs -- Extra Holes?

The BMR LCAs I installed are their tubular design, not their boxed design. From your reply, I assume being boxed or tubular wouldn't matter in respect to the holes weakening the part.

I'll just leave them in, and hey, I always have the option of switching to a b-body rear sway bar in the future LOL!

Thanks,
Thomas.

Re: BMR LCAs -- Extra Holes?

I just got off the phone with BMR and they informed me the F-body and G-body LCAs are now the same part number, using the G-body style with the holes for a swaybar. He said this is a recent change (3 months?) and all BMR F-body LCAs from now on will have the G-body swaybar holes in them.

Just thought I'd post an update for a future searcher .....
