Push Buttons Start Install

Hey Guys wolf here i was calaberating on installing a push button start system on my 87 z28 carbed 305. What steps should i take in installing the wires and so forth please don't be stingy i'll take as many tips as ya'll can give. The reason i am doing this is because the old wiring is pretty much FUBAR. Thanks and Hope to hear from you guys

Just wire a heavy duty push button switch from hot to the terminal of the starter solenoid closest to motor. Summit carries them, but you can find them at local auto parts store. Use 10-12ga wire and good connections, preferably soldered. I have one wired in parallel to the original wiring on my 71. I wired it to constant hot so that I can bump the starter with the key off for valve adjustments, etc. I put it on lower dash panel under steering column.

but what if you want it to completly start the car ignition included becuase the wiring to the key may be shot?
should i just run a hot wire off the battery to the button to the starter and igntiion?

You won't be able to do it that way with one switch. You'd have to have at least a toggle (on/off) switch for the coil and a push button for the starter.

so how would i go about hooking that toggle and push button switch up and where should i put both of them?

ive been wanting 2 redo my interior of my car, actually im just starting 2 rip things out. anywho, ive been wanting 2 install 1 of those 6 or 8 switch boxes into the car. is there any instructions on how 2 do it... or (im going 2 assume) when u buy 1 of those boxes, instructions come with it.

To be honest, I'm not sure. Do you have a computer-controlled carb? If you do, it's a bigger pain! You need to use the toggle to power the coil. Hook the push button to the starter. I don't know how you'd wire it so your turn signals, radio etc. would work with the toggle. Good Luck!

i have a msd box so i will be putting the toggle before that correct?
