knock sensor code question

the code is not excessive knock it says low voltage or short from knock sensor. any idea what causes this? i'm guessing maybe a bad sensor or wire. was also told it is a pain in the *** to change the sensor cuz it is under the intake.....any wisdom on this? I thought they were in the head.

Re: knock sensor code question

It sounds like the Knock sensor is bad. What can cause the knock sensor to fail is if you wash your engine bay area and spray water on the intake. What happens is that the water wicks under the intake and can get to the knock sensor, thus causing it to short out and fail. Now I’m not saying that this is what happened but if you have washed your engine bay and sprayed it down good this can happen.

Re: knock sensor code question

well I didn't wash it but the previous owner did so that is very likely. looks like since the intake has to come off anyway this is a good time for a LS6 to go on there!!

I would first and make sure that none of the connections are loose or that you have any frayed wires that could be ground out. Make sure it’s not something else because doing the intake just for the knock sensor is kinda a PITA, then to find out that it was not bad would drive me nuts.
