Hello F body brothers (and sisters?)
I got a call from my parents this week telling me that they are having trouble getting my mom's '93 V6 getting to go into gear. This the 4L60 tranny. I checked it out and when it's cold, it hesitates before dropping into drive when shifted into OD on the gear selector. It does this going into reverse sometimes as well. BUT....it will ALWAYS lock right in when you shift the car into 1 or 2 on the selector. The tranny runs and shifts up and down beautifully on the road with no slips or chatter.
Has anybody had this problem? I am thinking it could possibly be a pressure switch in the throttle body (if it's like other cars I have worked on). unfortunately I am not real familiar with the 4L60 because I have the 4L60E in my Z. If anyboody has more knowledge with this problem or has dealt with this situation before, please let me know. Thanks, -Ryan

 

How long has it been since the filter was changed???? Could be a pressure problem..

 

Just bought the car back in July so i don't know the intervals on the fluid change. The fluid didn't look too bad when we first got the car but I changed it and the filter anyway. The previous owner claimed the transmission had been rebuilt by aamco. Anyone else out there know if this thing has a pressurized selector switch?

 

Check the fluid level, check the pressure if it isn't good open here up, check for build up in the vavles and if the accumulator spring/springs aren't broken
