Injuneer 09-14-2004, 06:43 PM Most manufacturers will not recommend a wheel narrower than 9" for a 275/40-17. Dunlop is the exception at 8.5" minimum. Problem with 8" wide wheels is that you either have to "squeeze" a 275 on it, or stay with a sort of narrow 245/45-17. That's why most people opt for 9" or 9.5" wide wheels.
