How can I "tune away" carbon on spark plugs with LT1_Edit?

I keep getting serious carbon on my spark plugs (to the point where the car won't start after enough carbon build-up). I have LT1_Edit and was wondering how I can use it to get rid of the carbon??

I can't tell wether carbon is getting added in open loop, closed loop, or WOT, or ALL! During a 500 mi test drive, I don't think that I was doing any WOT (did do many cold starts though) and just did "normal" driving (no more than 3000 rpm's).

Mods include: 4.5psi Powerdyne, solid intake tubing, msd 6al, 160 thermo, bosche platinum plugs ($2 ea), STOCK evertything else!!!

Thanks for the help,

Mark

I use Tunercat so can't help you with LT1 edit, but:

You should change the plugs to non platinum tipped when using a supercharger and gap closer (.035). Platinum is good for longevity but is inferior to copper for conductivity. Also, the platinum disks tend to fall off and make your gap real wide.

Autolite 106's are a good place to start (stock heat range). I run 104's (colder) to prevent detonation. I get a little carbon buildup on the body but none on the insulator or electrodes.

Also if you are running a FMU it makes the car run rich under boost which to help prevent lean detonation. If that's the problem, you won't be able to tune that out unless you buy bigger injectors (36#/hr +) and delete the FMU.

Also you might try to get a hotter coil than stock.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info! Much appreciated!! I'll change the plugs.....HOWEVER, I am almost certain that plugs alone won't solve the problem. The plugs are getting TONS of carbon! Is there a way to fix this by tuning?

Also, is there any way that the car can be running rich during regular driving in closed loop?

I forgot to mention yesterday that the FMU's and fuel pressure regulators can get stuck and make you run rich all the time. May want to check your fuel pressure at idle.

FP is good, I have checked this before SEVERAL times!! I have also checked for post MAF leaks and found none ( I actually leak tested it).

Is this a common problem with putting superchargers on?
