12SCNDZ 09-03-2004, 11:29 PM When putting my system together, I used ALL NX stuff. EFI kit, Gen X-2, "Maximizer" controller, and NX TPS activation switch.
I've spent a few weeks getting the system wired, and I haven't even used it yet. Everything is wired as per NX's wiring diagram. Tonight I was testing my purge, and while doing so, my NX TPS switch activated. For those unfamiliar with the NX TPS switch, it taps into the factory TPS wire at the computer. When the TPS gets to 4.0 volts, it activates the NX TPS switch. On my system, it then sends a signal to the "Maximizer". This thing activated tonigth with the car NOT RUNNING ,and the throttle closed! This thing worked "as advertised" a few days ago when I was adjusting it.
I figured maybe it was getting a false signal from the TPS/computer, so I unhooked the activation wire. The LED stayed lit, and the switch stayed on! It now comes on as soon as the system is armed, and it starts running the program in the "Maximizer".
I'm certain this isn't a wiring problem. It activates with just the hot and ground hooked up...Even with the relay unhooked!
I planned on spraying for the first time tomorrow, but now it looks like I'll have to make motor passes only.
Anyone else have one of theses TPS switches? Anyone else has a problem with them?
Frank
Mr_Bond 09-08-2004, 09:51 PM Did you check the volts in white wire on the TPS to see what it says at close throtle when the light is on? Did you adjust the screw?

Yes....I have proper voltage (4.5V) at the white wire. The white wire is irrelivant, though...This thing activates when the white wire is unhooked. It activates as soon as the arm switch is turned on with just the red and black wires hooked up.
I've turned the adjustment screw to it's extremes. This thig was working when I first put it on. This happened suddenly...I hadn't touched any adjustments.
NX told me to send it back, and they'd replace it. The only thing I've got to pay is shipping.

Nostang 96z 09-09-2004, 08:37 AM Sounds to me like the relay is bad and is stuck closed. Check all of your relays to be sure. Man that sucks. I was hoping to hear of a 10 sec pass this past weekend.
Matt
DrewHMS97SS 09-09-2004, 12:09 PM why not use the tps on the maximizer?

LOL...Um, Matt...This thing activated with the relays unplugged. I tried swapping my relay with my H2O pump relay first, and then tried it with NO relays. The only wires hooked up were the hot (directly from swiched ON), and ground.
We'll try for that 10 second pass in a few weeks :) Hmmm...10SCNDZ????

Older style maximizer without internal TPS.

DrewHMS97SS 09-09-2004, 08:19 PM :( that sux
Nostang 96z 09-09-2004, 08:28 PM You need to ditch that thing and get a manual swithc like mine. After that failure I'd be really scared to run that switch. If it were to fail...kaboom. You should go to Nucar and grab a mechanical swithc and try it out this weekend
Good Luck

I've got the micro switch that came with the kit, but I can't figure out a way to mount it on my Holley T-Body :(
Frank
Nostang 96z 09-10-2004, 06:32 AM Bring it by my house tonight if you want and I'll fab up a bracket to get it to work. I wanna see that thing on the hit. :metal:

Mount it under the gas paddle where it activates when you floor it.
DrewHMS97SS 09-10-2004, 11:00 AM i never thought of putting it in the car. good idea.
formulaboy95 09-12-2004, 07:52 PM Same thing just happened to me. Switch was fine for the first few runs, then I noticed like a surging effect. Looked at the TPS switch and it was glowing red when the key was turned ON/Accy - Nitrous system not armed. Unplugged the wire to the TPS Sensor, and it was still lit! I played around with the knob, and got it to activate the system, but that red light is pissing me off. Before I send it back, I am going to isolate it from the system and see if it works. Mabey it is somehow feeding back + power somewhere in the system???

The LED on mine stayed lit, and it was starting to run the program in my maximizer as soon as the system was armed!
I e-mailed Jimmy Jams about their micro switch bracket. They told me It would work with my Holley t-body "with some slight modifications".
Hey Matt! Time to get the tools back out...LOL
Frank
Nostang 96z 09-13-2004, 07:52 AM Yo Frank, We can mount your switch just like mine. Mine is mounted off of the intake not the throttle body. Let me know when you want to do it, it should only take about 10 min to bend up and fit it.
Later
Matt
