XcYZ 09-01-2004, 09:04 AM JG, I was just looking at your motor pics and I noticed that you said next up was a TKO-500, but I'd suggest looking at the 600. I had a TKO and I hated the gear ratios of the tranny so I sold it. The 3.27 1st gear is about worthless, IMO. BIGBADBOWTIE 09-01-2004, 11:50 AM XcYZ.... I think 600 Hp and 550 lb of tq on street tires did not help the situation..... ;) I can attest to what Scott is talking about. 1st gear was pretty much worthless. jg95z28 09-01-2004, 12:11 PM Unfortunately we ordered the tranny about six weeks ago. :( I'll ask my mechanic about that when he calls me back on another item. He's going with a new vendor on the tranny who is selling it as a complete kit for the 67 including shifter, driveshaft, clutch, flywheel and all the accessories. He did a similar swap for a 454 Chevelle without problems, but it never hurts to ask. Thanks. XcYZ 09-01-2004, 12:38 PM JG, the TKO was a great tranny and it shifted awesome. It would still be in the car if it weren't for the first gear ratio. The 3.27 first gear, along with 3.73's and a 26" tall tire just wasn't that usefull in my 69.
