Does anyone know what the world record is for a 4.6 stang.I know its slower than the fastest f-body,but who has the record?

 

Nope, but its pretty damn slow, I'm sure. Hell you outta go race the fastest 4.6. I bet you'd beat it good.

 

Actually, it's in the 6-second range, but I'd hardley say you could compare the modular engine with the LS1. Because they're pretty much just pure racing engines now.

 

 

Of course that's what an ignorant Chevy biased guy would say. Sorry the fastest 4.6 is a lot faster than the fastest LS1. Only because of interest, though. The 5.7 has more potential because it is bigger.

 

Err... maybe... twin overhead cams may have a lot more potential in an ultimate HP race than you will typically see on the street. IOW, have both reached their limits? I don't know, but I doubt it.

You're right that there seems to be more SERIOUS racing interest in the 4.6L than the 5.7L motors.

From what I've heard the fastest 4.6L runs 14.2 @ 99mph and that is a turbocharged, nitrous fed, DOHC 4.6L in a tube frame car. The fastest F-body runs 6.4 @ 202mph and that is a near stock LS1 on snow tires.

My buddy has a 97 GT 4.6 5-speed with a 100 shot 3.73's trick intake and cold air and it running 14 flats.

Little note for everyone here, the world's fastest 4.6L isn't even in a Mustang, its in a Cougar, look it up at Hot Rod.

 

It isn't really even a Cougar, but Hot Rod probably won't tell you that.

There were some 4.6 mustangs running 7's 3 years ago.Jonn Mohovitz was running 8's back in '99 in a 4.6.
A few people tried to run in pro 5.0 but could'nt really compete with the pushrod powered Pro 5.0 cars so you don't see them anymore in pro 5.0.
In a procharger ad they list Aaron Archer's as the fastest supercharged mod motor at 8.53@162.
