We just purchased a 95 firebird 3.4 and finally got it running today (had to have a locksmith fix the ignition lock cylinder) while driving the car if you give it throttle halfway decently it will stumble a bit and then smooth out. Ignition has been done and I am going to throw my scanner on it tomorrow, I think its the TPS but I have not messed with these cars just my 94 Z and was wondering if there is anything that might be wierd about the sixes I might be missing?

I need to check and be sure but the previous owner just installed new plugs and wires and swapped coil packs with another car to rule out those. It has a new fuel filter as well ( I saw it when checking the car over so I know its new) maybe just maybe the wires are bad or not totally on all the way, I will make sure tomorrow.

any reason in particular you got rid of your LT1 and got 3.4??

-just curious

oh BTW the TPS usually give the most trouble at idle in park or Nuetral- to diagnoise it w/o a voltometor (sp) simply unplug it and see what happens

sounds like it may be the tps

or more or less a fuel or ignition prob but tps is easiest to check

Well I put my scanner on it and everything seems to be reading correct except it says quad driver 1 and 4 are bad. not sure what that means.
It also drives fine when cold but when it hits operating temp it starts stumbling and hesitating under load, you give it a good bit of gas and it will stumble a bit and then smooth out.
Maybe ICM? I will try to get that out next and check it.

Ok, went back to the basics and I am sure this is the problem.
2 burnt wires.
I was assuming they were ok since they had been changed but I should have known better.
Putting new wires on tomorrow.

Yep, put new wires in and routed them away from the EGR valve (which is what was doing the damage) and it runs perfect.
Thanks for the help guys.
