I'm installing a new clutch in my car and I'm on the pilot bearing now. It fits both ways over the input shaft but feels different both ways, can't tell which way is correct. Are the actuall bearings in the pilot bearing supposed to be closer to the engine or trans when installed correctly? I've tried looking at the old one, but it was completely shot to S#@t and looked a little differnet anyways. I am greatful for any help. Thanks

the new clutch also came with what appears to be a brass bushing. would it be better to use this instead of the bearing? upsides or downsides to either?

WELL... the bushing was a pita to install, i fitted it over the input shaft just to make sure that it would fit, and it did, the same either way i put it on. i stuck it in the freezer for a couple of hours to help with the installation. don't think it did. the clutch alignment tool that came in the kit does not fit in the bushing. It fits in the bearing though (whats up with that) and yes the bushing is at out side temp now. I can't belive nobody knows the answer to my question. Oh well... I guess all i can do is pray that this is going to work on the first try.
