C5 F1 EMT run flat tire pressure?

I just got a set of Y2K C5 thin spokes that came with F1 EMT tires and the guy I got them from had the tire pressure at 40psi. This seemed really high to me, the ride was pretty harsh when I took it for a drive, I dropped them back down to about 32 for now. Just wondering why this guy had them that full, I've never owned EMT tires before. Thanks.

I've got a 02 vette and I run 30/29 psi front/rear. 40 psi would make it ride like a truck. They're noisy enough at the lower pressure.

Yeah, at 40 psi it did ride like a truck! I dropped them all down to 30 this weekend and it rides much better. Thanks for the feedback.

Hey,

Good to hear you got them on the car. I always left them at about 30-32lbs when I had them. The idiots at the tire store must have gotten pressure crazy when swapping the valve stems out. My new tires/rims had 40lbs in them too when I got home I checked!! I lowered them and much better.

My Michelin MXX3s say they can be run at 51psi!! I'm running at 36psi, because 51psi would be a rough ride.

I thought 40 lbs seemed unusual, you would think a tire place would have a clue as to how much pressure to run. The wheels are awesome though, I think they look great with the car. I havnt had a chance to get pics of them yet. Thanks again for the deal!

my dad runs 35psi for his C5 tires. Stock Goodyear F1 run flats, and they ride is fine.

No problem. I am glad someone could put them to use and they are not sitting in my basement. I would have put them on my Camaro if I would have still had the stockers on it. I should take some pictures of the fatboy 335-30-18's on the back of the vette now. They look sooooo fat they almost don't even look real. On top of that I slammed it about 2 inches! My one friend was like, "It has that Viper look from behind when it is rolling down the street!".
