just got my strange 12 bolt today, questions??

This thing looks mean, I like it
Here's a pic
http://home.comcast.net/~bhawalka/12bolt_001.jpg

It has 3.73's with 3 channel ABS and preload cover and super strength posi.

Anyway, my questions are as follows.

1) There is a sticker on the axle for breakin. It says drive 50 miles, let cool for 30 min, repeat for 250 miles. THen at 1000 miles, take off the cover and clean up the insides, and reassemble. My question is, at the 1000 miles where i have to change the fluid, do I really have to take off the cover or can i just drain and fill it, taking off the preload cover seems like a pain.

2) For the driveshaft u-joint to get pressed in, who does that and where can I go to get it done??? What kind of shops do this, like a midas or mieneke?? Thats the only labor part of this job that I can't do.

Thanks for any help, I'll be back later I'm painting it rustoleum black now, .

Brian

Yes, they want you to clean it because there may be metal shavings in it.

Also, you can take the U-Joint to any machine shop, even most NAPA's will do it for around $25.

Hopefully, you are luckier than me, my Strange 12 bolt sounds like an airplane.

Thanks for the tips, I'll go ahead and follow the advice on that.
