Fuel pressure regulator?
Fuel pressure regulator?
My gf needs a fuel pressure regulator in her 97 3.8 camaro. Is there any easy way to get this thing out? The book says to take the rail out, has anyone ever tried it without taking the the rail out? It looks like a PITA to me.
The fpr is on the back of the rail, on the driver's side.
It faces toward the firewall. There's an internal snap ring that holds it in. I don't know how you could get the snap ring off, with the rail in the car... I could barely reach it to put a vacuum line on it.
It's not too hard to take the rail off. The injectors will stick a bit. I've heard you should replace the o-ring before you reinstall the injectors (either in the rail or the bosses in the intake, depending on where the injector came loose from...) I put in new injectors when I did mine, so they came with new o-rings.
I don't remember if you have to remove the coils or not. If you do, you can unbolt the coil plate from the intake and just move them over to the side, leaving all the wires connected.
