Help removed door moldings residue wont come off

Before winter i removed the door moldings. Ive tried everything to remove the residue left behind. Wd-40 goo gone bug and tar remover nothing works and there is a black ring of dirt that shows where the edges were the most ive been able to do is slightly dull it using bug and tar remover for a very long time in a small spot. Im thinking about going to a detailer and asking him to try and remove it. It would be a great free mod if i could get it off. Most people didnt have problems getting it off i dont know why I do.

Will that get the hard residue off or only the black line?

clay bar will work great, use it for the whole car, then wax it

if clay don't work, get some polishing compound, if that don't work, use rubbing compound.

Rubbing compound will get almost anything off, it's a abrasive and smooths out the clearcoat.

Take it to a body shop, they will get it off. We have an adhesive removal tool. Basicallly, it has a spinning disc on the end made up of rubber, kind of like an eraser. It will literally erase the adhesive off the car and will not damage the underlying paint. We use it for all adhesives, pinstripes, moldings, emblems, etc. Works great.

If it is a factory finish, you can use lacquer thinner, but if its been repainted dont try it, to test, try on the bottom of the door, and try a little area , an other good thing is to get finger nail polish remover, that will work also.
I think a clay bar will not work on glue residue

u need some wax and grease remover and a little patience. that is what i used. it will dull the finish but you can hand rub it with a little compound and bring it right back.
