Headlight Cover Faded On To Headlight

The subject says it all pretty much. It left some black residue, but that came off with some scrubbing. What was left was a 2 inch tall by 1 inch wide space that is really rough hard white buildup. It looks like what a fogged up light looks like, but it is on the outside of the lense. This is on both sides due to the previous owner leaving them on all the ime I guess. Any recommendations on getting it off? I searched and found that plastic polish might work?

I think you answered your own question, plastic polish and you might have to wet sand with 1500 and then use the polish.

Wetsand t=with 1500 or 200 grit and then plastic polish or I found rubbing compound will work also.
