Water Temp Gauge Question?

have an 89 Firebird,factory water temp gauge starts at 120,what temp is the water at when the indicator is halfway between 120 and 220 deg?

Sprayed, Aluminum headed 396. Tell me more. SBC or BBC? I'm assuming SBC. What kind of clearancing was required for that monster 3.875" stroke? Cast or Forged? Sweet, either way.

Your question--

120-220 (total difference is 100, divide by 2, get 50)

120+50=170 so 170 is your answer. That's mathematically speaking. I'm too lazy to go outside and really check. :o 3rd gen gauges are notorious for being off though.

I believe it goes 100 220 260. 10 marks betwen each set of numbers. I figured 12 deg per mark between the 100 and 220 and 4 deg per mark between 220 and 260
