Hey, I've noticed these 3 cars parking with each other the last 2 days. Wondered if they were anyone from the board. Man it's nice to see something other than rice in the garage.
On another note I set of 18 car alarms on the way in today. What's w/ college people turning their alarms sensitivity to max. No one even pays attention to the damn things anymore since you can hear them 24/7 all around campus

In the West Garage (next to the Education Building), there's a newer black Firehawk and a Grand National parked next to each other. I think they're owned by Parking Services employees.

my friend is like president or something of the computer combat simulation club (basically a lan party) and he's told me that UCF will give like 1k or 2k per school year to a club, plus will give some money to one person to go to a club related event (air fare, hotel, etc) and if enough people want to go to that event then they'll up the amount of cash... i think it was like 5 or 6 people and they'd up the cash to go to an event.

so like get 5 or 6 people together from the club, take a "trip" to the steak and shake and pocket the rest of it http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif

I think you guys are on to something. The only thing I've heard is that it's a little tough to get money out of SGA. You have to get to them in the beginning of the semester before they give out all the money. I know some of my engineering clubs have a tough time getting money sometimes. You have to go to a meeting to learn "how to ask for money" too. If you really wanted to start a club, you can count me in.

I might be up for a club, hell I like the idea of money going the other way for a club.

Is OSW a "field trip" that could be fully paid?

Or we could have a "fund raiser" of a car wash. Which conists of washing our cars and a few others. God knows I need a car wash.

Bad86, what engineering clubs are you in? I'm in the SAE, so I was just wondering if you were a member too. I've been inactive for the last year, but still paid the dues. Okay guys, email me a head count of who would be interested in a club, along w/ contact info. Also Friday Sept. 6th I've already arranged a get-together of a few f-bods in the shopping center @ Lake Underhill and Chickasaw. Hop over to the www.cffb.net (http://www.cffb.net) information forum for details and directions. This would be a good time to lay out a plan.

Another F-body driving UCF student here. I would definately be interested in joining some type of club or get together. Also, I have somewhat of a perfunctory connection with on-campus leaders and clubs because i'm an RA (knight's krossing). So, perhaps we can get something rolling...

Back to the original topic: I too saw the infamous gathering of two TAs and an SS. I spotted them in the garage across from the gym.

i asked my friend who went to the UCF club funding meeting for the computer game club and this is what he told me:

need 10 people to be considered a club.

need at least 1 teacher to sponsor you in order to get funding from SGA.

SGA will most likely NOT pay for dyno runs, but would possibly pay for a field trip to OSW, including POSSIBLY paying for "wear and tare" for the trip out there and back... but not the tare on the car for actual racing. they pay something like a set amount per mile you drive out and back. SGA provides UP TO 1000 bucks 2x a year for an event of some sort. to get more than 1000 bucks you gotta write a bill and provide it to the senate or something like that, a big annoying ordeal.

if this club actually formed, UCF would most likely provide the space for a car show of some sort.

i think its probably too late this semister to form a club and actually get funding, but i don't think its too late to just form the club. we don't need a teacher to become a club just to get funding.

this is what he told me over lunch today at wackadoo's. beyond this, i don't know much else.

now we just need someone with some spare time to actually find out the details and start the club.

Hey Guys,

I'm a financial officer of a club at UCF. SGA will not pay for trips taken, they cover expenses for tangibles, I've been to the finance meetings and they're very strict about this. Before each year, the club has to to fill out information and activities they want funding for, and if SGA approves it, then you'll get funding. I have the entire rulebook for this, but I'm too lazy to get it now.

Didn't UCF have a GM PowerClub, or are they no longer active? I remember seeing their site on UCF's search engine.

Here's an idea for a meeting and to make your presence known on campus:

Meet like 2 mornings per month for breakfast, then go to the same garage and park your cars in a line (backed in) next to one another where they'll be seen.

I'm still looking for a used Z28 or SS of good quality, and when I find it, I'd like to offer my help in starting a club.

Later.

WHOA!! Parking more then one car next to each other on campus!?!?!?

If we did do somehting like this, we could leave notes on our cars, telling people interested to come to this board, maybe we could recruit some people that aren't online.

If the bearings are bad, it's time for a new alternator. I think it would be physically possible to replace them, (which basically would be rebuilding it) but I've never taken one apart before or haven't a clue where you could get parts. A remanufactured one should be cheap and an easy solution. It takes about 5 mins to pull the alternator off.

Yeah MustangEater82 I heard it was on the campus someplace. Supposedly there's a SAE shop someplace. I havent seen the dyno or anything, but was told it exists. Thats all I know.

There is NO WAY in hell we'll get funding this year. They have already given away their $200,000 and something stockpile of cash. You can check out how they spent it in the latest issue of the school paper. MANY people are angry about how the money was alotted i.e. 30,000 to Greek organizations. But that's another story...

Anyhow, funding is really unimportant. I think it would just be cool to hang out and (try to)park together sometime. It would also be nice to meet more car people my age who aren't total tools. Anyone smell the keg party????? I know a few of my friends are down with that... http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif

There used to be a place in Longwood on 427 just across from Milwee Middle School that rebuilt starters and alternaters. They always did a good job too. You might check with them.

I was thinking the same thing along time ago, and thinkign it again. Problem is there is always a car in a UCF parking lot, I think the education lot would be pretty good but there are soem light poles but not too many. The thing is I could see showing up on a SUnday, and seeing one car parked in the middle of the lot. I guess we could put cones around it http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif

Guys, lets go ahead and arrange some sort of get-together for now and leave the "officialness" of the club till later. I like the breakfast idea since that IS the only time during the light of day that we could all park together. Who would actually be willing to meet EARLY in the morning for a "cruise-in" to on campus and a group parking? I have a class @ 7:30a.m. and there is hardly anyone on the 2nd floor+ of the garages but it fills quickly after that. If you want to get our cars noticed for interest in the club this would be the time to do it. Who's a diehard that will get up this early to do it? Oh, as for a name how about " UCF-TAZ" (Trans-Ams and Z28s)? I'd hate to disclude the v6ers, but its just a name.....or would we rather broaden ourselves to other GMs or even, gulp, some other american muscle? Perhaps if we made it an official club we could rent out some spots to reserve (not very likely).

Well... I think there should be SOME sort of qualifications somewhat... NO rice and junk. Probably start out with like just F-bodies and work from there, see how much interest it brings and how big of a crowd comes.

But IF needed to expand or gain interest, I think possibly other GM's and NON ghetto american stuff, "could" be allowed if they qualify. NO 4 banger lowrider pickups and crap. I know a friend of mine (UCF student)is building a V8 S10 Blazer with 425HP N/A + 150HP shot of nitrous. It will be a daily driver, and completed by the end of the year. (plenty of F-body parts on it though..hehe). I know he might be interested in hanging out once the truck is done.

Although my classes start @ 10 on tues and thurs and @ 1 on MWF, an early morning get together might be a cool idea. BUT... it might be hard for some college students though...ya know.

Just some stuff to consider.
Steve

I'd be up for mass parking.

Can we think of a parkig spot where alot of people would notice all the cars?

I was also thinking would we allow GM or even Stangs?

Call it American Iron? if we allowed stangs

maybe have all GM cars.

Whatever we do I think a Monday would be themost convient for me. But I am game for any day mon-fri.

Just give me warning, My car need a good washing!

I'd be up for a little gathering. I have classes at 8:30 and I usually get up a 7:00. Just give warning on the date and where and I'll show up.

BTW, yes there is a chassis dyno on campus. The problem is that it is ANCIENT and only intended for 150hp or less. as to my knowledge, the controls are in storage...oh and there is a jig built over it right now for a 7 second mustang project that they're fabricating a chassis for. Sorry guys but no chassis dyno....There are however 3 working engine stand-style dynos http://web.camaross.com/bb/wink.gif

don't dog the 3.4L too much now http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif ... i used to have one, beats 90% of the rice on the road... and yours is quite a bit faster than the standard 3.4L isn't it?

we need to start a listing of AIM screen names or something... or phone numbers or email addy's...

i'll start, my screen name is "workasazi". i may or may not be online because i'm having major computer troubles. if you msg me make sure you tell me where you got my screen name from.

mine is MustangEater82

hotmale825@hotmail.com

mine is one of the quicker 3.4Ls

fastest is N/A is a 95 3.4L 15.65@91.35, and and second fastest is 15.677@88.24, and my fastest is 15.696@86.22.

I think the main reason why I still keep my car beyond its paid off and not too unreliable is its so close to being fastest 3.4L N/A, and I have not even gotten inot porting polishing and cams like the other guys have.

The other 2 guys are not around anymore, they moved on to bigger and better things.

And Tiago who ran a best of 15.775@87.30 who is right after me jsut pur a turbo in his car. Ithink he is going to see how much boost stock motor can take. He has some beefed up internals laying around.
