I finally bought a long sought after LS1 camaro!
After wanting a camaro SS since I first saw the 1998, I had been wanting to buy the Camaro SS from either 1998 or above and finally I bought a Z28 this last saturday. I had been looking for a SS, but since they were to hard to find and the ones I found were too expensive, I came upon a great deal on a 1998 Z28. It had leather seats, power everything, CD changer, T-tops, only 53,000 miles for only $10,350. It was the cheapest and lowest miles I've seen on a pre-owned camaro Z28 on southern california. I didn't know it at the time, but when I took it home it practically has every option from the factory, including traction control wich I was actually trying to avoid ever since I heard that it limited wheel spin, but after my very first street race, traction control is actually the best option to use! I now am very glad I have traction control and I always turn it on and leave it on. It still burns-out even with the traction control, but at least it helps the wheels get more grip on the road and helps with a race.
I had never owned a Z28 before, I had a V6 camaro in the past and was pretty quick so I wasn't sure what to expect from the LS1, but when I was taking the car home, I was getting in the freeway and I decided to slam on the gas pedal and....I WAS FREAKED OUT and immidiately let go off the gas pedal!!!! I was scared that it was so fast!!!! I was so happy!!!!
Before I bought the camaro, I had been planning on buying one and then adding a twin turbo kit etc, but the thing is so fast and it freaked me out, I don't know about the turbo kit anymore.
I am so happy!!!!!!!!!

I live in Riverside and I actually went all the way to Malibu to buy it. I saw the car on the autotrader website and had also seen others but this was the cheapest one. Before this one another dealership in san diego was also selling a 1998 Z28 with T-tops and leather power etc, but he wanted $11,500 with 75,000 miles. I was actually about to go look at it becuase The one I bought saturday was not yet advertised, and when I called the guy with the $11,500, it was already sold. So a few days later, I think it was thursday, I saw this other one advertised and decided to call and schedule and appointment on saturday. The dealer told me to hurry up if I wanted it becuase he said several people were asking for it and a guy was going to look at it on monday. So I went before they sold it. When I got there it looked better than the picture they had on the website, and I immidiately knew I was going to buy it. It also has a K&N filter on it already and I think it also has a flowmaster muffler. I checked everything and everything looks really good and clean. It has 18" Borbet rims with low-profile tires and it looks awesome. I don't have a digital camera or I would take a picture and show you guys. It also already has all windows tinted.
Many of the things I was planning on doing are already done so thats also a big plus.

Congratulations! It gets alot worse now.. You get accustomed to speed, upgrade, get accustomed again, upgrade.. Until you find yourself scared at how fast your bank account is going down, rather than how fast your car goes!
Be careful though, you have to learn how to use that much power before you go showing off. You don't want to end up in a ditch!

Congrats on the new ride. And may I say you have wonderful taste in automobiles. I wouldn't worry about not getting an SS. The SS was really just an appearance package anyway. They might dyno a few more horses from the exhaust but just about everybody (including ss owners) changes the exhaust out or puts a cutout in anyway. So the Z28 is just as fast for the most part only without the cool looking hood.
But you didn't mention if it was an auto or manual. If you did then I appologise and must have missed it. As soon as funds are available go get a new airlid. If you got the M6 then get a new shifter and skip shift eliminator. If you got the A4 then get a 3500 stall torque converter and tranny cooler when funds allow for it.
But again congrats on your new ride and welcome to the LS1 family

"where in riverside??
I live in riverside as well. There are not many z28 out here. You will soon learn there are not many cars as fast as you. You should look at joining the SCCC!!"
Yeah I've noticed that there's not that many around here. I live in Rubidoux near the high school to be exact, and I go to college at Cal State San Bernardino and even there or on the way I rarely see one, and if I see one it's a V-6.
"slowpoke96z28 how big a subwoofer?"
I was planning on getting Two 12's "Infinity Perfects" I heard good things about those, and I was going to make another custom box that would also house four 6x9's "Infinity Kappa's" that would sit just behind the rear seats behind the head rests. And about the amplifiers, I was going to get three, One to power the 12's, I was planning on getting "Precision Power" amplifiers rated at about 500X2 for the 12's, and a 4-channel 100X4 to power the four 6x9's and another one to power two in the front, maybe a 100x2. I wonder if they'll fit though because the amps themselves are huge. I'm sure I'll get them to fit though, but I know it will add a ton of weight.
Oh, I forgot to tell you guys I got the A4 because it was what was more convinient for me. There's a bunch of traffic on the I-215 on my way to school and sometimes one of my hands is always busy with either food, or a map, or something. When I was driving the car back home from Malibu for example, I was reading a map I got from Mapquest, also on the way there, and I don't think I could have been able to do it with a stick shift. I was deciding really hard between the 6-speed or the A4, but all of the reasons I mentioned made me decide to get the A4.

Congrat's on the car bro
. Sounds like you already love it, and that feeling never really goes away ('til the first time something breaks and you've gotta replace it!
). Be careful with the power at first though.............the back end will kick out without even trying sometimes!
(and get your flame suit on, 'cause you're gonna get ribbed about the auto!!!
..........no worries though, 'cause 9 times out of 10 you can beat the average stick driver
).

hey congrats on the new car sounds like the deal i got 39,999 miles for $12.999. U mentioned that you keep the traction control on when you race i suggesst turning it off and get use to launching your car without it. The asr asctually hurts you bc it cuts off the power to the rear wheels hence you not burning out jus tire chirp.
