Hi everyone, I am a new member and I have a 78 Camaro with a 350 and a 4 speed.
What should the trans be in this car? I think mine may be from a newer car, can anyone tell me what the part number should be?

I want to say the stock 4 speed is a T10.........whatever it is, it's weak unfortunately. Jeg's sells new ones, but even those are kind of weak, if you really need a new one, look to a richmond street 5 speed depending on money you have. Is the car mostly original/stock? I miss my '78 T/A, I sold it last month........:(

Its not stock, it is built a "little". I am still learning about the car, I picked it up from a friend and he was in need of money so it went for a good price.

If it's a Z28, factory installed 4 speed was a Borg-Warner Super T-10, a tranny as strong as a Muncie. To check to see if it's a S T-10, look at the tail housing where the lever for reverse bolts on. Borg-Warner symbol is cast there.
If it's cast iron with all 3 levers going to side of tranny, it's a Saginaw (now this tranny is weak). If it's aluminum with 7 side bolts, it's a Muncie.

Thanks, I will get under it tomorrow and check it out. I would like to get a new shifter for it and want to get the right one.
