primer84z 07-27-2002, 07:32 PM my uncle owns a few caddilac dealerships and i told him to keep an eye out for a trans am or a z28. he calls me up and says he found a 98 v6 camaro with the full z28 package. just no ls1. he says it has 40k miles and is an automatic. he will give it to me for 8000. do yall think this is a good deal? i personally dont see how this car could have a z28 package but i havent seen it yet. i really want a v8 car but this price is good and the savings on insurance would be great. any advice or comments?
There is no 'Z28' package V6. The Z28 is V8 only.

V6white98 07-27-2002, 09:00 PM LOL, what kind of dealership is your uncle running?

my car-Black with black leather interior 99 Camaro SS, A4, T-tops and lots of options
my old car-(sold to my brother 7-13-02) white 98 V6 A4, leather, t-tops, exhaust and intake mods
WhoBetter? 07-27-2002, 09:10 PM your uncle probably means it has the y87 package which inludes dual exhaust or possibly somebody put z-28 badges on their v6. but a '98 loaded with only 40k, your luckly because that is really a good price, retail is like $12k on that car. i think you should consider your uncles feelings and take it. truthfully, he's pratically giving it to you.
primer84z 07-27-2002, 10:41 PM i figured this was a good deal, and I know he wouldnt screw me over. i am just dissapointed that its not a ls1. oh well i can drive it through college and trade it in. hopefully its the sport appearance package or something. im supposed to go check it out this week some time. ill keep yall posted.
there aint no z28 package but 8 grand for a 98 camaro sounds good, make sure you run a car fax.. he may be your uncle but he's still a used car salesman
primer84z 07-27-2002, 11:17 PM actually he has 2 new car dealerships. this was a trade in on a escalade. he doesnt sell used cars, just sales them wholesale to other dealerships and auctions. i know what you mean though. never know what the hell the cars been through. rhanks for the advice, does anyone have pics of the y87 package?

primer84z 07-28-2002, 03:20 PM heres an update: i went to his lot to check it out today and it doesnt have any z28 badging or anything just the sport package with the ground effects and the RS style spoiler. it has power everything leather and pretty much all the options but ttops. new 275 tires were just added by my uncle becuase "they make it look faster". lol. anyways from what ive seen its in perfect condition. is 8500 a good price? my uncle said thats what it cost him wholesale.
nick362 07-28-2002, 03:56 PM Sounds like a great price to me...
bluecmaro96 07-29-2002, 12:31 AM 275 tires may make it "look" faster but in reality it will make it slower, thats a huge tire
primer84z 07-29-2002, 10:47 AM i dont really care if its fast or not. if i wanted a fast car i would buy a real z28. v6's are slow but that doesnt mean they cant look good.
V6white98 07-29-2002, 08:20 PM I disagree I think V6s are pretty quick, have you driven it yet? My brother got my old Camaro (the 98 V6) and he thinks its great being able to pass people, his old car was a P.O.S.

I agree,V6's are very fun cars.Especially if you just cruise around town a lot. Those things will get up and move on the street.I mean I never use the extra power I have on the street. Most of the time I only hit full throttle at the strip.Too many cops around here to play around with http://web.camaross.com/bb/tongue.gif

That is a good deal on the car, and yes they did make some with the Z28 handling package. I almost bought my son one. Notice how tight the car steers and handles. Sorry, the car doesn't have a V-8 nor any badging, but it is a very nice ride. Jump on it, you will be happy.

i think they are slow. haha but it comes from the factory with more hp and tq then my old '84 z28 did. so i guess it will still be slow, but faster than what i got now.
WhoBetter? 07-30-2002, 06:57 PM the 3.8 is impressive at 5000, your up to 75 before you know it.
primer84z 07-31-2002, 11:11 AM im psyched about getting this car now. it looks badass with really dark tint and its perfect paint. i was only worried about the sound and not having the deep throaty v8 sound. then i saw the slp loudmouth for a v6. it sounds sweet. if i get that exhaust ill have everything i want. gas mileage, sound, looks. thanks guys.

I was going to say that too, but I didn't want to brag. But its pretty amazing, the first time I drove my SS with a friend I pushed the gas down about 3/4 to the floor and said were going 80mph to my friend and he looked over and said "$h!t, it doesn't feel like it".

camaroKID 08-01-2002, 02:27 AM a 3.8L v6 is a very respectalbe car, and im glad i have my v6, for cruising and driving, and if you're young... 300hp is alot to handle. but i have to agree that there is nothing like a 300hp v8. i was bitten by the bug and never went back. im on my third car and my second v8 car, both v8's with over 300hp. oh its fun.........very fun.

primer84z 08-01-2002, 09:11 AM i too have driven a 2002 ws6 t 6 speed and it was the most fun ive ever had driving a car. but definately not the fastest, nothing beats a 1.6 or 1.7 60ft launch in a REAL fast car that is set up for drag. talk about ****ting a brick is when the front wheels go off the ground and you dont see the track anymore. theres nothing wrong with driving a v6, as long as you have something fast to drive on the weekends.

I agree. I have a 97 V6 Camaro Convertible and a 93 Z28 M6. My V6 is my daily driver and I love it to death. (I was sposed to sell it when I got my Z, but it's my baby and I can't part w/ it ^_^) Buuuuuuuut.....I do find that on the weekends when I got my Z out on the prowl, I forget I even own the 6er ^_^ I love em both.....I guess it takes owning both to really appreciate them. Hey primer84z, take the car man. You're going to love it to death!

I own an LS1, but i owned a 3.8 before, yes the 3.8 is respectable and certatainly a fast enough car to be fun to drive. I could be happy with a 3.8.
