I figured I'd post this in here to get better advice. I have a 67 bird and I don't want to cut up the dash to put a stereo in. I was thinking the glove box but that is a pain to get to. I have gages under the radio and a/c controls. Any good ideas for somewhere else to place it or does that plate around the original radio come out?

Summit racing has a nice shaft mount head unit for musclecars that will allow you to keep from cutting the dash. You might check into that.
RME-CR225X is the part number....though it is only a cassette unit

I cut mine.... but I believe Kenwood (I know someone does) makes a radio that will fit that is also a cd changer....

Crutchfield sells a Kenwood AM/FM/Cass shaft mount that should fit without any cutting. It fit in my 70 perfectly.

They make systems to fit the stock mounting holes... ie. no cutting. I had their Kenwood setup in my old '68 RS.

They have some nice stuff but I already have a cd player to put in and I dont want a tape deck. I think I'm going to cut the dash. It's not like I'm going to sell the car anyway so It wont matter other then make it more convient. Thanks for the info.
