Well, new Zaino user review.

Well, I've been using Mothers wax for the longest time, and really couldn't justify spending $80 on a zaino kit when my $15 bottle Mother clay and wax kit was doing great. I stated to get fed up with Mother though, when after about 5 days or a couple of ranstorms, it would look like I haven't waxed it. It hid swirls great, but for only about 3 days.

So I bought a second car, and waxing two cars a week was getting to be SUCH a chore lol. Cashing in on the hype of the Loooong lasting protection of zaino, I saved up $80 for the whole kit. Well, I dawned both my cars, clayed them again (though didn't really need claying) and started to apply Z5 w/Zfx on the first car. Looking at one oz in this lil test tube, I was thinking, how the HELL am I gonna get THREE coats on an Impala SS out of this lil amount lol. Well, I lightly misted the applicator with Z6, and applied a lil amount of polish to applicator and started to apply. My first impression was, is this stuff actually on the car? I couldn't see the stuff unless I looked at an angle. It applied so thin. Now I used to apply wax to the car much easier, and you could TELL there was wet wax on the car, lol, not so much with Zaino. Well I kept going and did the whole car, and looked at how much polish I used, and was amazed I had used soooo little. I really WAS gonna get 3 coats! Well I waited 30 minutes to buff off, it was still drying, so I waited another 30, and it didn't seem like it was drying right. It wasn't humid on new england, and it was about 85 degrees, odd. Well anyway, I bufeed it off with a cotton towel, and it cames off VERY easy. It left some dark streaks, but I was assuming cuz the polish hadn't fully dried yet (More on that later). And when I buffed off all the polish, I stood back, and well, wasn't impressed, lol. I proceded to Z6 it, and it got rid of those dark streaks! I wish there was something like Z6 for Meguiars, lol! BUt after I Z6'd it, the surface started to finanly feel smoth, and have a lil luster to it. Nothing like Mothers used to look when I was done detailing, but I wasn't done with the zaino, I still had TWO coats left!.

I went on to the second coat, and it applied EASIER! The Z6 really helped slick the surface, and the polish now applied twice as easily, and definately more evenly. Buffed off, the Z6'd it again. Now I started to see the shine that Mothers used to leave! Remember now, this is Z5 that i'm using! Then I went to the 3rd coat, and it just slightly improved on the shine! Now I was feeling good about this poilsh, 6 hours of work, and this one car was looking great! The ONLY thing I'm not so impressed with, the Z5 realy didn't do much with my swirl marks. Mothers used to hide 90% of them as they are fine swirl marks, not deep or anything. but Z5 with 3 coats, only hid about, maybe, 20% of what showed with a dawn washed car. Hopefully, more coats will help.

But i'm MOST impressed with zaino after driving the car for 5 days now. The shine is still there! This is after TWO rainstorms too! The water beads right off leaving a clean dry surface, but the luster and shine remains like when I first polished it! Mothers woulda been severely weakened after just 1 rainstorm! lol.

S my final verdict, Zaino is WORTH IT! This will severely lessen my detailing time on the exterior of the car, as now all I have to do is Z6 the car after a wash! Of course the swirlies will bother me, so I will keep re-applying Z5 till i'm satidfied. Does anyone know about how many coats it takes for Z5 to wor, so it can fill/hide the swirlies like carnauba did?

It depends on how deep your swirl marks are as to how many coats of Z-5 it will take to cover them, carnauba waxes with their high oil content will cover scratches easy, of course ride through a day or two of rain and your swirls will be back. If after 3-6 coats of Z-5 your swirls are not mostly covered then they are just too deep for Z-5 to cover them, I would then suggest using a products like 3M Scratch and Swirl Remover on the bad swirl areas to get rid of them, then using Z-5 to keep them under control. Make sure your towels are good quality ande you use a cotton wash mitt to wash the car, this will help keep swirls under control as well.

How much shinier will the paint be if I use Z2 instead of Z5?

If your using the new Z-5 and want to compare that to the new Z-2, the new Z-2 is a clearer product, depending on the color of your car you may see a difference and you may not, but shine is very subjective so if you have Z-2 try it and see what looks better to your eyes.

hey, I last zainoed my car like two month ago, and the stuff still holding, but the swirls are starting to show up, I just ordered some Z-5 and a couple of Z-6, and I think I have half a bottle of Z-2. I want to do some Z-5, and the question is, can I apply Z-5 and then Z-2 and then Z-5 and so on, with out dulling the shine?
