How do you know it is the fuel pump? If it is just pop another one in there. I would not drop the axle and tank, just carefully cut an access panel to it. shouldnt take more than a day of work (i have never done it before). Hope everything works out. Maybe you can borrow a relatives car or a friends car? Good luck tomorrow man
Yea ... I 3rd the idea of cutting a hole in the trunk to get too it. Just dont be a complete moron about it and do it with something that will throw sparks everywhere ... If your gunna do it wrong , go all the way and use a cutting torch
not to steal the thread
can someone describe to me the process of fuel pump "porthole" as you guys are talking about? id really like to know cuz the thought of dropping the axle and the tank to do it make me go
thanks for the help.

May i suggest that you use a roto zip w/the cutting attachment. It was the perfect depth(about 3/4") and was a clean cut. Just plan on using 2-3 wheels. I used to have a link w/pictures and all the steps. One step when cutting the hole, to get to one of the fuel lines to disconnect it, it will be easy to just cut another 2 1/2 tall and 5 inch long rectangle out on the front drivers side of the hole. You'll know what I'm talking about once you get in there.
