Car is too loud, will replacing the cats help

I understand some dig the noise, but with my setup it is just too raspy. I bought all high quality parts to avoid it but it is still there. Besides the fumes are also buggin the crap outa me. Question is, will replacing the ORY pipe with a y-pipe and high-flo cats reduce some noise. I also assume some power loss, but hey I will find it somewhere else.

Ya, cats will reduce noise. You can get aftermarket highflow cats and just have them spliced into your ORY. You shouldn't have fumes unless you have a leak or a turndown too far front.

I have been thinking leak because I should be hearing the tone from the muffler more than the headers or y-pipe right?

My car sounded horrible without cats when the motor was between 2200-2600 on the street. It was loud, and the smell of hydrocarbons bothered me. Putting the cats back on made it sound much better, and got rid of the smell.

Yup, cats will definitely reduce rasp and will make exhaust note more muscular sound.

The cats eliminated the rasp and deepened the exhaust note as well.
