rear seat latch problems
i bought a 96 camaro rs recently from a local dealer and this car is in really good shape except for those little annoying problems. i just noticed a problem with the latch system on my back fold down seat. the passenger side latch is composed of a bolt which comes straight out of the frame and a latch thats attached to the seat. ideally the latch on the seat is supposed to hook over the bolt, but in my car the latch is about a half an inch above the bolt and doesnt even make contact. is there any way to lower the latch, lower the seat, raise the bolt, or anything else that will fix this problem?

I'v never looked at the latch on my car but the bolt (if its the same) takes a torx bit, its possible that it didn't get screwed in straight. If you don't have any torx bits you could try using a flat head screw driver, but if the bolts are on there really good a flat head won't work.

ok i have a 1/4 torx bit that fits in perfectly, only now I have a new problem. does the passenger side bolt unscrew clockwise or counterclockwise? Mine is really darn tight and i tried going both ways but it just wont budge. and once i get it loosened, is it adjustable or something?
Thanks for your help,
Mike

I just went out there to findout which direction to uncrew it and I think I found the problem. First off, its counterclockwise. Second, the part the bolt screws into is actully on a little sliding "gizmo". The sliding thing moves diagonally it goes down towards the front end of the car and up towards the back end. Anyways after the latch hitting the screw so many times it must have moved.
Oh man I love these forums so much. I have been looking all over the web for the past few weeks posting in forums and searching google to try to find some way to fix this problem. People gave me advice such as trying to get new seats and dumb stuff like that and I knew there had to be an easier way. If it wasn't for you I eventually probably would have ended up going out and buying a whole new seat and still having the same problem. I'm so glad that I stumbled onto these forums, you're like a lifesaver man!!! I know it wasn't even really that big of a problem but it was bugging the heck out of me. Thanks so much for helping me out.
