Lost 5th 6th and Reverse???
Lost 5th 6th and Reverse???
me and my buddy were out rollin in his viper this weekend and he doesnt use 5th and sixth very much on the street but when we got on the freeway he went to shift into 5th and it was like it was in neutral! it goes into gear but just does nothing
same with 6th! we noticed later that night that he doesnt have reverse now either! 1st thru 4th work just fine though
what could cause this? seriously i told him to quick beating on that damn car but dayum i cant believe that he broke a T56! ive got 140k on mine and shes made plenty of ten sec passes and STILL hasnt had one prob yet

well This is a shot in the dark, but easy to check. When I went to disconect my CAGS I disconnected the speed sensor one instead, which stopped the skip shift, but I culdn't go into 5th or 6th or reverse, 1 through 4 were fine. Of course it was pretty obvious since the speedo didn't work. But hopefully its something easy and simple like that on your buddys car

sounds like a clutch problem to me. or pressure plate. something is not grabbing or the clutch is just spinning on the flywheel and not transferring the power to the tranny.
just had the same thing happen to me on my beater truck except it was all gears. you could go into all gears, let the clutch out and it wouldnt die, acted like it was in neutral. turned out to be the clutch.

5th, 6th, and Reverse are on the same shaft, most likely if you lose one of those, you lose them all....
