Need help with low RPM bucking and surging..

The car runs great from ~3500 up in all gears. In first and second anything below 2500 is a problem because the car will buck and surge like someone first learning to drive a stick...but then once you hit ~3500 the power kicks in instantaniously and the car drives a ton smoother.

For example if you want to cruise around at 10 mph in a parking lot in first gear you would have to wear a helmet b/c of all the bucking the car will do.

The pedal also seems "mushy" below 3000 or so. With my cam the power band starts here but the onset is extremely noticable.

I do have a decent log in csv format if someone wants to take a look at it.

Any idea on how to fix this? Ive tried to add timing and its helped throttle response some but the bucking never seems to go away.

I remember a while back Dr Mudge saying that you dont want big gaps or changes between MAPs or RPM's since that will make it rough...I do have some pretty big jumps.

DM is right.. you want smooth transitions. take a look at mine and see what hes talkin about and what it took to get rid of all my cam surge. something else i noticed and what a lot of guys get wrong is that adding timing wont necessarily help you out at all. you know how they say just add a couple degrees here n there... itll get rid of cam surge. well i actually had too much timing to start with(mail order tune) and after adding and adding down low with no noticable decrease in surging, i just started back from scratch and went down with it noticing instantly thats what was needed. hope that helps

i didnt say taking away will help you.. it helped me. you should start by adding maybe 3 or 4 degrees in the 800-1500 rpm/20-50 KPA range and see if that helps out. if not then go back to what you started with and take out a few degrees. do you have gears? 4.10s will help out a lot.

No,thats part of the problem too, I only have 3.42's. I took some away and it seems to be better. In your experience does anything in the 400-1000 rpm and 60+MAP area do anything? I dont see how the car can be at 800 rpm for example and 100 MAP? I had a ton of timing there that I returned back to the stock numbers and it helped alot.

As Im sure you already know the file you sent me was bin file, did you possibly have an .LT1 version?

400 rpm is really lugging and my car doesnt dip down that far. it pulls right along with no foot on the gas at about 900ish so i started the tuning at 800 and kinda smoothed it out from there if that makes sense. i dont remember exactly where i adjusted the tables. i basically read my scanmaster and when the car started to buck i would remember that MAP value in inches HG and then convert to KPA that tunercat uses. kinda of a hard method since i had to basically guess what KPA was though i had a conversoin chart to help out.

i dont have the .lt1 version but you can transfer the tables cant you? i dunno what tuner you use but in tunercat you can open both .bin and .lt1 so just copy the tables outta my file and put in your existing .lt1 file if you see anything you like.

Matt...do you have the LT1-bin converter? If you are on IM I can transfer it to you.

Thanks Ryan but I ended up having it! It was lost in my 100+ item LT1edit file folder. I got more tunes than I know what to do with.

Also as an update to the situation Ive found out that I have a burned plug wire which was arcing. Im sure this hasnt been helping the situation either. For some reason I have a feeling fixing this will help out.
