I am hoping to buy an LS-1 SS next year and was wondering if any of you have had any major problems with your cars. What is the most common problem with the LS-1.

I'd say the windows having motor problems, the rear hatch having a hard time opening, and rattles that happen after 30,000 miles or so. Subframe connectors fix that though. But those are minor compared to the awesome power and fun these cars are. Definately get the SS.

No problems yet with 44k miles on my '98.These motors are STRONG!The only glitch I have is the passenger window is getting really slow going up/down.A replacement part is only $45(I think) with a lifetime warranty.

There are rattles, but when you ahve that much hp, things are bound to shake loose. http://web.camaross.com/bb/wink.gif
Minor issues: rear hatch sticks (easy to fix though), some blemishes in the paint, and seating is really only comfortable for the driver - the darn passengers seat doesn't go far enough back in my opinion.
The engine can be a little noisy - either engine knock or noisy belts. The rear differential also makes noises... like a "clunk-clunk-clunk" noise as you coast around a corner at low speeds, or come to a stop. Rotors wear down very fast. Pretty typical stuff for most cars - nothing too bad though.

Alot of the LS1's have a problem with the rear main seal leaking. Also seen quite a few cars with the pinion seal leaking. My car has both. I'm not really worried about the rear main, it just kinda keeps the back of the oil pan wet. Pinion seals easy to fix.
