I'm getting closer and closer to completion of my winter project. I have the heads and Holley Stealth Ram base manifold bolted on to the car. The fuel rails are assembled, the headers are dropped into position, and the accessory brackets are bolted back on. When I put the upper plenum onto the base manifold it sure as hell looks like its gonna punch through the hood when I close it. Looks like that heat shielding material is going to have to be removed.
I don't have a digicam otherwise I'd post pics. But man ohhhhhh man talk about easy valve cover removal and injector swaps. I bet I could get a valve cover off in under a minute with this setup... This intake setup REALLY cleans up the mess where the tuned port used to be.
If all goes well, I'll fire it up by Friday! YIKES!! I have a lot of work to do!

Friday!?! What was I thinking!
Maybe next Friday.... this intake setup is a lot more involved now that I have dug deeper into it. NONE OF THE FACTORY STUFF FITS! I have to buy new hoses and a gooseneck. :( I don't even have $50 to my name right now....

From what I have read you will have to remove the liner and grind down a stud for the loover. Other than that it should fit. You can put the liner back in but it will rub and leave a mark. This is what I have read.
Also there is a story in GM High Tech in the last 2 issue showing the install. Hope this helps and makes you feel better.

Brad, I think its time for a big bad a$$ hood scoop. and while your at it add some more bling like a big wing on the back and some neon red lights and those cool fins you put on your wipers.
BLING BLING:D

good luck with it brad. unfortunately that seems to be how it goes. nothing is as easy as bolt on and work perfect. be careful about shaving the intake to fit as well.....it could cause some serious problems down the road. especiallly if you add a power adder. just don't give up on it, i'm sure it will turn out great! :)

Update... Got the heads all buttoned up, rocker arms are adjusted and what not. The fuel rails are bolted on with the injectors that just got in this morning. The upper plenum is sitting on top of the motor and I closed the hood to see if it would close... it does with about 1/4" of clearance.
On the down side, the comp pro mag roller rockers won't allow my valve covers to slip on without modification to the valve covers, no biggie. I also need a new gooseneck and upper radiator hose. I also have to modify the throttle cable bracket on the TB as it hits the frontward fitting on the drivers side. I still need to fab up new fuel lines because the HSR is fed fuel from the rear rather than the front of the manifold. There are more holes than I know what to plug them with in this thing. Don't even get me started on where all the vacuum lines go! I have no clue!
All I can say is this ****er better be worth the hassle!
Anyone wanna donate an 88 TBI upper radiator hose?

Brad would a 90 degree tstat housing work? That is what I had to get for the supercharger install. You can turn it to the position you need.

Chris, I have one on order from Napa Auto Parts. Should be here Monday.
Update #2: The stock Air ducting won't fit. Looks like I need to fab that up too...
Also, I have to make a seat bracket to get the drivers seat in the car... This is hell

Brad its not hell its a labor of love dude. The more you pour yourself into the car the more you become one with it.
That way when you crank out some low numbers in the 1/4 mile you say i did that.
Of course I'm still going to spank your ass at the track this year:D
