Installing driveshaft Safety loop and have a question

I am putting on my ds safety loop. After I unbolt the ds from the universal joint, and put the dssl on, what torque do I use when putting the ds back on? Is it 50ft-lbs?

Are you talking about the caps that hold the rear u-joint to the pinion yoke? Chilton's shows those bolts at 16ft-lb. Definitely not 50ft-lb.... that would crush the needles.

I believe so. I am just unbolting those caps to remove the ds, slip on the safety loop and bolt it back up. I have the chiltons, but wasnt sure if I should use the 16 or 50 ft-lbs. So 16 for the caps?
