Although this oil pan was a perfect fit with the stock K-member, it later turned out to be a pain with the oil filter when the oil cooler adapter was put back on. The result was only the shorter fram oil filter would fit and not the larger k&n oil filter or even the better fram tough guard oil filter. Although a slimmer aftermarket oil cooler adapter was a fix for this. Note the fram ph4 was just a temp oil filter used to keep dirt out. The appropriate fram ph30 was used when the engine was back in the car.

New bearing plate upper ball joint and shock and painted control arm and mounting plate.
The red that looks like overspray is actually the red showing where I painted the exposed metal under the mounting bracket. I meant to redo the undercoating but ran out of time and figured I would do it later. All parts were removed cleaned and painted off body.

Painted the calipers with ceramic based paint and used custom decals to finish it off. Was initially worried how they would hold up but 4 years on and they are as good as day one except a slight fading of the red paint.

Pretty clean lifter valley for a 125k engine. But then again it was well maintained on synthetic oil and premium filters and gas. Ran like brand new till the day I disassembled her for the rebuild.

Initial tear down and removal of the engine took place at home the old fashioned way.

Either I am really getting into my work or I need to see the doctor about this huge red growth I have around the middle.
