The Z needs new tires...what to get?

Any ideas? My Comp TA's are worn down pretty bad and they dont make them anymore. And I dont want some ricer style tread design. Tire size is 275/40 17.

Honestly I like my Kuhmo 712s... I might try something better next time but cannot go wrong for $472 shipped to your door, in that size

Try www.tirerack.com Most of the different tires have feedback from people that have bought them. I like the BFGoodrich Traction T/A tires(high-performance all-season) I would buy them but I just bought a tire/wheel package from e-bay.

How are those Goodyear Assurance's? I saw them at a local walmart.. they have a beastly tread pattern.

I'd be surprised if they came in 275's.

I second that. I have the same tire on the stock sizes. When I go up to 17's I'm going with them again. Tread looks attractive, great wet road traction, and I've been going for probably 30k on these ones with still great tread left. The price is VERY inviting, especially for a Z rated tire.

I don't think the Goodyear Assurance tires come in our size... I did a search on their site last week and it showed nothing.

The biggest size the Assurances come in is 225, atleast thats what it was a little bit ago. I think my dad bought Eagle GTII's, he says they offer a lot of grip for his ( my old) 89 IROC.

Re: The Z needs new tires...what to get?

I am pretty sure that when BFG discontinued the T/A they ended up changing the name to KDW and tweaked the tire just a bit for the better. The Comp T/A came stock on my car and I loved them. In the summer I ended up replacing them with the BFG KDW and I am amazed. They are super sticky going through the corners when pushed hard and were simply amazing in the rain. I drove for 2 hrs in pouring rain at 75-85 and they didnt flinch. Dry traction is just as superior. A little more expensive but you get what you pay for. If you dont have to worry about rain I would reccomend the KD.
