In your opinion, what is the best tire for street and performance?
I just bought a modded out camaro with stock 16 inch wheels, the nitto tires are about gone. I would be using it as a daily driver, but this car pushes about 420 hp, so I would like some traction and stability at high speeds. Later on I will be getting 18's that are 10 inches wide. For what I would be using it for is there much of a difference between y and z rated tires? Thanks for the opinions guys.

I found a tire by Avon Tech that has all very positive reviews for grip and handling. Does anyone think otherwise. Price isn't bad either.

check tirerack.com
i have kumhos (89 a piece or so, pretty cheap) and they're decent i suppose
o, and i believe y is rated for up to 149mph, and z is 149+
not much of a difference, and i hope you don't maintain that speed a lot anyways, for all of our sakes

Z was at the top of the old system, means speeds in excess of 149 mph.
W & Y have been introduced recently, W is up to 168 and Y is up to 186. There is also V, which is up to 149 I believe. Anyway, W & Y tires are also referred to as Z tires a lot of the time. The tire rack has a good writeup on this that can explain a lot better than I can. I wouldn't worry much about that though. Just keep your eyes glued to the dry traction rating or else you'll be disappointed, especially with a big hp jump over stock.
