Will this tire/wheel combination work?

I'm looking to get these wheels (link) for a 2002 z28 Camaro that I recently purchased.

Here are the tires I will be getting (link). I know that the wheel and tire will work together, however what I'm not sure is if they'll work on the Camaro. The offset is only 40mm for the wheel and the backspace is 5.66". I don't know the stock offset, but I believe the stock backspace is 6.875".

So I'm wondering if these would work and if there could be any potential problems?

Re: Will this tire/wheel combination work?

Appears you linked the 16"x7" 40mm offset wheel. Just curious - why would you want to put narrower wheels on the car?

If that's what you want, you won't have any problem fitting the wheel. The stock 16"x8" 55mm wheel has a 6.63" backspace, and a 2.3" frontspace. The new wheel will have ~1" less backspace and a 2.4" frontspace. In effect, the outside edge of the wheel/tire moves outward 1/10", and that is not problem.

Note that the tire you selected has a recommended wheel width of 7.0" - 8.5", meaning the wheel you selected is at the narrow end of the range, and the tire may look a bit "scrunched" on the 7.0" wheel.

Re: Will this tire/wheel combination work?

I was having a hard-time finding 16x8 for the car, other than at Amazon. So I choose TireRack because they would put the tire on the wheel and do the balancing and such for no extra cost.

The reason that's important is because I'm not a car person and therefore I would need someone else to put the wheels on for me and if they don't have to do that part it's that much cheaper for me.

Re: Will this tire/wheel combination work?

That's why most people who buy aftermarket wheels will opt for a 17"x9.0" or 17"x9.5" wheel with a 275/40-17 tire.

We all need someone to mount and balance a tire, unless we happen to work in a tire shop. The trick is finding a reliable shop that won't butcher your wheels. Tire Rack is reliable. I've bought a couple sets of wheels/tires from them. Note that they have the wheel you selected in 17"x9.0" size.

Alright. So I changed to this then: Wheel/Tire.

I couldn't figure out how to select the 17x9s.

Still too narrow at 17 x 7.5". Most people use 17x9 (SS/WS6 stock size) or 17x9.5.
